The Dunder Mifflin API is a free placeholder-data service for people building websites and apps. It answers the question every prototype eventually asks: who are these users supposed to be? With names, emails, job titles, departments, bios and headshots for 17 employees of a mid-size regional paper company, the answer is now one fetch() away.

Why a paper company?

Because a placeholder team should feel like a team. A regional manager, a sales floor, an accounting department that argues about the party budget, a warehouse that quietly keeps everything moving: these are the shapes real organisations take, and they are the shapes your interface needs to handle.

How it is built

The site and API are one small Astro project on Vercel. Pages are prerendered; the JSON endpoints run on demand so they can honour filters and paging. There is no database: the roster is a versioned data file, which is why ids and slugs never change out from under you.

What it is not

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to NBCUniversal, Universal Television, or anyone involved in producing The Office. Character names and likenesses belong to their respective owners. Every email address, phone number, address and bio here is fictional and was written for this API. See the Terms of Use.
